Synopsis:

With recent advances in information and technology, many orthodontists are left scratching their heads. Three-dimensional imaging, aesthetic treatment planning, mini-screw anchorage, patient-specific appliances, soft tissue laser surgery, tooth whitening, TMD treatment, and dental applications of Botox™ are just a few of the cutting-edge techniques that are leaving a lot of world class orthodontists excited, yet at the same time a bit intimidated and feeling like they’re standing on the outside looking in. In this lecture, Dr. Stephen Tracey will demystify and simplify a few of the profession’s hottest topics and give you a whole host of tools and techniques that can be incorporated into your practice immediately!

Temporary Anchorage Devices – Simplified

Temporary anchorage devices (TAD’s) are rapidly changing the face of our profession. For the first time, we are able to define anchorage without unwanted reciprocal movements. But while there is a plethora of TAD’s on the market to choose from, most orthodontists are still hesitant to jump on the bandwagon due to their fear of placing them and the apparent complexity of using them. However, with recent advancements and the introduction of a revolutionary new TAD system, miniscrew anchorage is now easier than ever to incorporate into the orthodontic practice. In this section Dr. Tracey will show you how.

TMD in the Orthodontic Practice – Demystified

Typically, patients with temporomandibular joint dysfunction are about as welcome in the orthodontic practice as the plague. Etiology is illusive, splint fabrication and adjustment is time-consuming, chair time skyrockets, and schedules fall apart. If you’re lucky, they get better. If not, you’re in it for the long haul. In this section Dr. Tracey will demystify what’s really going on in the vast majority of these patients, and present a no-nonsense four-step formula for managing them easily and simply. Of particular interest to many will be the discussion on the use of Botox.™

The Soft Tissue Laser – A Must Have for Quality Orthodontics!

Use of the diode soft tissue laser has proven to be one of the best adjunctive treatments orthodontists have ever used. It’s uses dovetail perfectly with aesthetics and on-time treatment. Removing redundant tissue, exposing non-bony impactions, frenectomies, and equalizing tissue contours are all simple, non-invasive procedures. Its unique ability to ablate tissue, sterilize the target area, and promote rapid healing makes this a “must have” for any orthodontist wanting to take their treatment results to the next level. In this section, Dr. Tracey will show you why.
